List of products by potter: David Burns

David Burns is a highly experienced and time served artist, primarily working in ceramics, but also metalwork, glass, and more recently story telling and pottery.

Most of his work consists of powerful forms finished in boldly coloured glazes. Some pieces follow traditional pottery forms such as bowls and bottles, whereas others are purely sculptural.

He has a studio in Dorset where he is steadily building up a collection of kilns, as well as firing with those in Oxford.

David Burns first studied ceramics and glass at what is now the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.  Most of his 40 year career has combined making and teaching, including working for Michael Cardew, taking over a pottery from Jim Malone, and being depicted on one of the Brexit pots by his friend Grayson Perry. Over the last five years he has put aside much of his teaching, to concentrate on making new work.

Most of his work consists of powerful forms finished in bold glazes. These may be traditional craft forms such as bowls and bottles, or purely sculptural works of art, or modified craft forms. Thick glazes are then applied, often in strong primary colours
